Smithies quits Huddersfield Town for QPR

Alex Smithies has completed his near £2m switch from Huddersfield Town to Queens Park Rangers.

The 25-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Loftus Road after completing a medical.

Town, meanwhile, are offering supporters the chance to get their names on a special one-off team shirt that will be worn in the club’s penultimate home game of the season against Birmingham City on April 23.

For the price of £10 - all proceeds will go the Town Foundation, a charity set up by Dean Hoyle to help youngsters in the area - a fan’s name will appear as part of a vertical magenta stripe on the specially-designed magenta and white striped shirts

Hoyle added: “So many fans get printing on their replica kit featuring their favourite player’s name. Well, now they have the chance to get the players to wear theirs.”
