Afterwards, Wilson was fulsome in his praise of the newly-promoted Shrews.
The Blades boss said: “I thought Shrewsbury were excellent at times.
“They might have surprised a few people. Not me.”
And on his own team’s performance, Wilson added: “Of course we can improve. It’s the first match of the season.”
