Sheffield United boss Nigel Adkins encouraged as predecessor Nigel Clough returns with Burton Albion
The Blades head into the encounter with the Brewers - managed by ex-boss Nigel Clough - in a wholly disappointing tenth place in League One, with inconsistency currently bedevilling Adkins’s side, who went down 2-0 at Rochdale on Saturday, following on from the previous weekend’s win over Port Bale.
Adkins acknowledged: “We have been inconsistent all season. You have got to pick up wins and we have drawn too many games and we needed to turn some draws into victories.

“We need the supporters to be behind the players against Burton Albion as they haven’t conceded that many goals and we have to be patient in our way to break them down.
“But likewise, the last two performances have been encouraging and the intensity of our game has been good.”
