Leeds A1 death crash driver named

A DRIVER who died when his car crashed into a lorry that was on the hard shoulder of the A1 in Leeds awaiting repairs near Leeds has been named.

Andrew Brooks, 45, of Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, was fatally injured in the collision, near junction 44 for Boston Spa, on Wednesday morning.

His Vauxhall Zafira crashed into the back of the lorry, which had a puncture, shortly before 11am. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The northbound carriageway was shut for several hours following the crash.
