Historic house to open for second time
Briarcourt, now owned by Kirklees Council, was designed by the celebrated architect Edgar Wood and is just down the road from Lindley Clock Tower, probably the architect’s best-known work in Huddersfield.
The house with its fine interiors, which include decorated ceilings, an inglenook fireplace and a plaster frieze, was built as a home for newly-weds and completed in 1896.
