Tree children pledge to be ever green
The hornbeam tree – the first one to be planted in the campaign – was adorned with promises ranging from pledges to recycle paper, like little Ruby above, toys and clothes, to growing vegetables, walking to school and turning off lights in empty rooms.
Sam Gibson, of Bettys and Taylors, said: "These environmental promises show how much young people in Harrogate care about the planet.

Staff and customers at Bettys and Taylors have helped plant three million trees on four continents since launching the campaign. Last year the company pledged to help protect an area of rainforest the size of Yorkshire.
