Tesco plans lodged with authority
As well as building the new supermarket and petrol station on the site of the current civic centre and central library, Tesco also plans a “multi-million pound investment” in Rotherham’s road network, removing the Centenary Way flyover, upgrading pedestrian crossings and improving access to the transport interchange.
The submission of plans follows a public exhibition of the proposals by Tesco and developers TCN Property Projects last November.

Hide AdThere will now be a formal opportunity for residents and businesses to comment during a consultation period.
The application can be viewed online at the Rotherham Council website or else at the authority’s customer service centre.
A spokesman for Rotherham Council said: “Rotherham Council’s planning board will make a decision on the application and, although no date has yet been set, it is hoped that will take place in April.
“The council continues to be in discussion with town centre traders and other interested parties to keep people updated.”
