‘Take you hat off ‘ to Mr Monopoly
Victor Watson CBE, above, has been nominated to receive the Leeds Award, which was set up to recognise the achievements of people who “bring great credit to the city through their exceptional hard work and dedication”.
Mr Watson, 84, joined John Waddington Ltd – the Leeds firm which made Monopoly and other games – in 1951 and was its chairman from 1977 until his retirement in 1993.

Hide AdIn a nomination citation, he is described as “a man who has dedicated himself to the City of Leeds. It is time that the city marked his incomparable contribution,” it adds.
Mr Watson was a director of Yorkshire TV and Leeds and Holbeck Building Society
