Seaside towns to compete for cash boost
Communities Secretary Eric Pickles is today announcing a new pot of £27.2m to boost economic development, £3.5m more than was available last year.
Scarborough Council was awarded £2.6m last year, the largest payout among 26 successful applications in England.

Hide AdAnnouncing the new funding, Mr Pickles said: “For too long seaside towns, large and small, were overlooked and this fund gives them a lifeline to grab hold of to create skilled workers and year-round jobs that will build stronger communities and stronger local economies.
“The fund was a huge success last year and I want to see as many exceptional projects as possible put forward in year two.”
