Party for pensioners thanks to pub
The future of the festive dinner in Great Ouseburn, near Boroughbridge, had been thrown into turmoil after the village's youth forum, which had helped organise the event, was disbanded earlier this year.
But Liz and Paul Jackson, the owners of the village's Crown pub, stepped in to help after they were approached by parish councillors.

Hide AdStaff at the pub organised the festive celebrations for 39 pensioners on Thursday last week.
Mrs Jackson said: "We were happy to do it for the village. If we hadn't hosted the event, they wouldn't have had their Christmas lunch.
"It's very important as some of them don't get out much and it's an opportunity to get out and see their friends."
Kate Mackown, who has owned the village shop and post office with her husband for 28 years, added: "It means a lot to everyone, particularly the older generation. It's one of the only times everyone gets together.
"We had 15 months without a pub, so it's nice to have it back. It's great that it can host big events like this."
