Long road ahead for blade runner
The 48-year-old’s life turned upside down in 2002 when he suffered multiple injuries in a motorcycle accident. Yesterday, exactly 10 years later, he set off on his Dales Way challenge which will see him run 80 miles off-road from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere.
Mr Sheridan, of Keighley, was fitted with a high-tech Ossur running leg made from a carbon fibre lower blade with an all-terrain sole and an aluminium shank which is attached to his knee with a socket. The Icelandic false leg is similar to the ones worn by South African athlete Oscar Pistorius.
He will raise money for a number of charities. To find out more visit www.justgiving.com/teams/DalesWayUltraRun PICTURE: TONY JOHNSON
