Hotel plan approval provides jobs hopes
It is thought the hotel would be run by the Hilton group, providing about 200 jobs during its construction.
The application by East Riding developers Manor Property Group did not go before the city council’s planning committee as no objections were raised, and was instead approved by officers under delegated powers.

Speaking when the application was submitted, Mark Bailey of Manor Property Group, said: “The development will support the existing business and academic community, the emerging renewable energy sector and provide a purpose built venue for celebrations and events, preventing the loss of business and leisure visitors to hotels outside the city due to lack of suitable accommodation.”
He added: “There is a recognised demand for quality business and tourism hotel accommodation in Hull. We have seen a growing number of events and festivals drawing thousands of visitors to the city and there will be an increased corporate need for hotel and meeting accommodation with new business demand being driven by a number of growth industries, including the development of major new offshore wind farm projects giving the city region a significant boost as an emerging centre for renewable and low carbon economy development.”
