Headingley pavilion scoops building excellence award
Among the winners at the West Yorkshire building excellence awards was the £21m Carnegie Pavilion at Headingley, Leeds, a joint venture between Leeds Metropolitan University and Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The main contractor was BAM Construction Ltd.
Eleven awards were given to celebrate building quality in a variety of projects.

Hide AdThe awards, organised by Leeds Council and the other four West Yorkshire local authorities, were awarded by the Local Authority Building Control organisation, which represents local authority building control departments.
The award winning buildings were:
Domestic extension: 32 Beaumont Park Road, Beaumont Park, Huddersfield. Robinson Property Services.
New single dwelling: Westfield House, Westfield Lane, Wooldale, Holmfirth. Yorkshire Country Properties Ltd.
Two or more new dwellings: Warren Lodge Gardens, Savile Park, Halifax. Towngate Homes.

Restoration and conversion: The Court House, 27 Manor Row, Bradford. Solo Construction
Education: Huddersfield University. BAM Construction Ltd
Commercial: The Yorkshire County Cricket Club Ltd, Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
Healthcare: Pinderfields General Hospital. Balfour Beatty Construction Northern Ltd.

Leeds councillor Richard Lewis, executive board member with responsibility for development, said: “This year’s finalists showcased how local authority building control is at the forefront of facilitating high environmental standards in difficult economic circumstances and proving how innovative and sustainable development can also be very cost effective.
