Halifax apologises to ‘dead’ customer
Rodney Kenington went on to find that Halifax had also returned his State and Humberside Police pension payments, saying he was deceased.
The 72-year-old, from Kinloss Garth, Hull, said: “I spent three days on the phone trying to get it sorted. I am supposed to be dealing with professional people and they are very unprofessional. How they did it without a death certificate I don’t know. Initially I was really annoyed – but now it’s a bit of a joke to find you are dead and you can’t do anything about it.”
He believes the mistake arose because his wife had died in April. Halifax gave him £75 for “distress and inconvenience” and have apologised.
