Gallery to shed light on post-war life
It will look at how the changes have affected the area and include exhibits such as a 1950s kitchen and diner, a 1960s living room, and pop culture from the 1950s to the 1980s.
In particular, the gallery will show how workers flocked to the area after the war to work in Scunthorpe’s steel industry, and how the steelworks acted as a catalyst for the development of the town.

Hide AdStaff would like hear people’s stories from the post-war decades and are appealing for anyone with household items from the 1950s and 1960s to donate them to the collection, as well as memorabilia from music and youth movements.
Coun John Briggs, portfolio holder for leisure and culture at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “North Lincolnshire Museum is very keen to hear from people who have pieces of furniture or other items that could be displayed in this wonderful new gallery.”
