FOOD REVIEW: A religious experience at vegan foodie heaven
Housed in Sheffield’s historic Rutland Works, Church - Temple of Fun offers a little slice of alternative paradise featuring décor inspired by religious iconography, aDrop Dead Clothing shop, retro arcade games, a delectable selection of cocktails, gins and craft beer.
A tattoo studio is believed to be on its way, but for now, Make No Bones as the in-house eatery completes the venture from Bring me the Horizon front man, and dedicated vegan, Oli Sykes.

Hide AdAs a long-time fan of Make No Bones (MNB), I was excited to see their new menu.
Kitchen manager Dave Shaw says staff from MNB have been visiting the Rutland Road premises once a week since February to try out the new menu, and to get to know the new staff.
“We’re like a little family now, it’s great,” says Dave, adding: “The food and bar have been doing better than we possibly could have imagined and we’re only two weeks in.”
As we walk in on a very busy Thursday evening, virtually every table is taken, but we manage to find a little table for two upstairs.

Hide AdOf the range of new vegan offerings, I went for a DD burger, which comprises of a B12 burger, smoked cheese, DD black BBQ sauce, smoked tomatoes and iceberg lettuce on a charcoal bun.
My dining companion opted for the surf and turf burger, which also comes with a B12 burger topped with faux Louisiana shrimp with creole mayonaise and ketchup.
And as the burgers don’t come with any fries, we went for a sharer of loaded nachos, that come with fresh cooked corn tortilla chips, pica de gallo, avocado cream, cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, black beans, rainbow slaw, sour cream and pickled onions.
My burger was absolutely delicious, if a little sloppy, and really managed to achieve a meaty texture.

Hide AdMy order didn’t come with a charcoal burger, however, as they had run out. My dining companion was equally pleased with his burger, and we both marvelled at the Louisiana shrimp his came with, which perfectly emulated the taste and texture of the real thing.
The nachos were delicious, and just the right size for two people.
Service was a little slow, but the friendliness of the staff more than made up for it.
Two mains, a side and two rounds of craft beer came to £43.25.
I’d definitely recommend a visit. Or two.
