MOTORISTS in Sheffield city centre have been facing long delays this morning after a serious warehouse fire and a separate road accident.

Nursery Street, near the Derek Dooley Way section of the city’s inner ring road, is closed both ways between Spitalfields and Wicker Lane due to a large fire at a warehouse.

Around 30 firefighters were called to the derelict building at around 6.30am to find it “well alight.”

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Firefighters are using main jets and the CARP aerial appliance to tackle the blaze.”

Meanwhile, the A621 Bramall Lane was also temporarily closed after a car hit a pedestrian, but reopened at around 10am.
