Sheffield car fire photographs: Police investigating arson of 50 cars at compound with unbelievable photographs of aftermath

Crews attended a large number of vehicles on fire near Parkway Drive, Sheffield, in the early hours of Wednesday morning (Jul 19).

Residents were warned to avoid the area and keep all windows and doors closed if they lived nearby.

Parkway green watch were first in attendance, backed up by crews from Central, Elm Lane, Birley Moor, Rivelin, Lowedges, Aston Park and Maltby fire stations.

The location is believed to be a compound for cars which have been seized.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 11.15pm last night (Tuesday 18 July) following reports that a number of vehicles were on fire at a vehicle compound on Parkway Drive.

“A number of vehicles sustained significant damage but nobody is thought to have been injured.

“It is believed that the fire was started deliberately and an investigation is underway into the arson. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact us online or by calling 101 quoting incident number 1039 of 18 July 2023.”
