Man charged with three offences after woman threatened with axe in Yorkshire

A man has been arrested after a woman was threatened with an axe in Yorkshire.

South Yorkshire Police said it had responded to reports that a woman had been threatened with the weapon outside a property on Bridge Street in Barnsley at around 9.20am on Tuesday (Apr 11). The force arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Today, police said it had charged Kelham Hendley with three offences,

threatening a person with an offensive weapon, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.

Hendley, of Bridge Street, has been remanded in custody.
