Cheers as regimental colours paraded
More than 1,000 troops marched through the centre on Saturday with colours flying, bayonets fixed and drums beating. All four battalions of the Yorkshire Regiment stood proudly together under new regimental colours, which were presented to the regiment by the Duke of York last Friday. The Ministry of Defence said the parade was second only in size to Trooping the Colour.
Hundreds gathered for the event and cheered and clapped during the march past, which was followed by a service in York Minster to bless the new colours.
