Hide AdMedia regulator Ofcom is expected to give its verdict on such proposals in March following an investigation into television pricing.
Experts believe Ofcom will tell Sky to reduce what it currently charges rivals for access to services such as Sky Sports and Sky Movies.
This could then open the way for Virgin Media and BT to pass on the reduction and cut the prices of the premium cable and broadband channels.
