For many years, clients old and new have made the unique window and door showroom on the Harewood Estate their destination of choice.

From entering the Estate and driving through the grounds, spotting grazing stags and deer en-route, makes a visit to this unique showroom unlike any other.

Timber Windows North work hard to ensure that the quality experience continues. There is ample on-site parking and a relaxed and calm atmosphere in the showroom. People are invited to browse at their leisure, and can see first-hand the quality and choice of timber windows and doors on offer.

“We want to make people feel completely comfortable,” says David Ambler, who now runs the business with Oliver Surtees, having taken it over from his parents. “We will sit down with clients to find out exactly what they are looking for and understand their tastes and likes. This is more of an experience with no pressure and our showroom is more like a destination. People come for a day out and tie their visit in with a walk around the Estate.”

The business was established in 1985 by Malcolm and Stella Ambler to deliver top-quality products with the service to match, and is now run by David and Oliver, with the Harewood showroom opening in 2011.

David explained: “All of our windows and doors are individually crafted to an exacting standard and made specifically for the client, using the best quality seasoned timber from the core of the tree combined with time-honoured techniques and latest technological advancements to create stylish products which stand the test of time.”

The company also has a sister showroom in Knutsford in Cheshire, and has many repeat clients and new customers thanks to word-of-mouth recommendations coming from across the north of England.

At the showroom prospective customers can take their time to peruse the full range of 800 colours and both traditional and contemporary styles for bespoke and made-to-measure windows and doors.

The company has fulfilled orders for many unusual shapes and styles, and many traditional properties. Oliver said: “We can manufacture most things from simple arched frames and porthole windows through to incredibly intricately designed products.”

Why choose Timber Windows North

For most of us our homes are more than just a building, and when replacing windows and doors we want quality, style and attention to detail. But we also want to make sure our money is well spent on lasting products which will not only look stunning but be efficient and secure as well.

Timber not only looks in keeping with traditional and period properties but is essential for Listed properties and usually in conservation areas. But not only does timber retain a home’s character, it is also an eco-friendly choice.

Unlike the original windows in many properties, todays wooden windows made by Timber Windows North have a high standard of both sound and heat insulation thanks to reflective glass and gas filled double glazing. Your home will not only look beautiful but will be warm, draught-free and energy efficient too.

Invest in your home

The knowledgeable team enjoy welcoming prospective clients to the showroom to discuss plans, look at pictures and find out exactly what you like and don’t like, but the service doesn’t end there. They will of course visit your property to make a thorough assessment before providing a quote and, once you’re happy with every detail, perform a technical survey for manufacture so you can be certain your installation will run smoothly. It’s a business they are truly dedicated to.

“Timber windows and doors is our business,” David explained. “It’s not an offshoot or part of a wider business, this is all we do.”

The wide range of styles and colours means you can choose exactly the right design for your home and the right colour and finish for your personal tastes. Glazing can be plain or stained-glass and they use an extensive range of elegant ironmongery options to give modern or period touches. Of course, behind the good looks are also quality fittings ensuring security, safety and energy efficiency are taken care of too.

Not only does the paint or stain look beautiful, but the three-layer coating system means it stays beautiful, and maintenance free, for longer. Infact all of the paint finishes are covered by a 12-year warranty. All work is done in-house by their own trained staff, with nothing outsourced to contractors.

Save 15% with the winter discount

Peace of mind comes with a generous 30-year guarantee on the timber and customers can currently get a 15 per cent discount on all window and door orders placed during December 2022 and January 2023.

What customers say

David added: “Since 1985 we have transformed thousands of homes around the North of England. We’re incredibly proud of our work and love to show it off.”

Miss McKenzie said: “The showroom was amazing, what a lovely setting and the people were all lovely too.”

Mrs Devine said: “After more than 20 years of living with bedroom windows that wouldn’t open because of layers of old paint and broken window sashes, we are able at long last, to enjoy refreshing cool breezes. We are more than thrilled with them. Once again many thanks for a first class job done with the minimum of disruption.”
