Contest puts pupils’ business skills to test
The Umph! event organised by business adviser Grant Thornton is taking place at John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield tomorrow.
The contest gives students the chance to learn first hand about running a business by working with eight entrepreneurs from across the region.

Hide AdThe contestants compete against each other to create the most successful ‘virtual business’.
Last year the competition was won by a team of from Greenhead College in Huddersfield scooped first prize in last year’s Umph! competition.
Zhi Hui Zhao, a member of the winning team said: “As well as giving us a much better idea of how business actually works in real life, I think Umph! has also given us a clearer ambition that running a business is something that we could all aspire to do ourselves.”
Sandra O’Neill, head of business development at Grant Thornton, said: “Umph! is all about equipping young people with the skills they need to succeed in business.”
