Stars help Morrisons’ fresh message attract shoppers
It emerged this week that chief executive Dalton Philips missed out on his annual bonus as a result of the below-par trading and a drop in full-year profits to £879m.
The group’s top directors will not receive a base salary increase in 2013/14 following the disappointing results. Mr Philips will receive £850,000 in the coming year.
The supermarket said that while it remains “cautious” about the economic outlook and consumer spending, full-year expectations are unchanged.
Morrisons said it opened six stores during the quarter and acquired more than 80 convenience stores.
Leeds-based rival Asda will update on its first quarter next Thursday.
