County's private sector still growing, but more slowly
Business activity and contract wins rose while firms hired more staff for the second time in three months, according to the Yorkshire and Humber PMI. Margins remained under pressure, however, because of a rise in average operating costs.
The business activity index, which is seasonally adjusted, posted 56.6 in June, the thirteenth successive month of higher output and faster than the national average although down from 58.7 in May.
This means the Yorkshire private sector economy is still growing, but more slowly.
Manufacturers, boosted by more orders from abroad, and service sector firms saw increases in output.
